The Robonauts worked with NASA-JSC and VEX Robotics to design, prototype, manufacture, and assemble face shields for frontline workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Robonauts students and mentors designed numerous prototype shields and took feedback from healthcare workers and sent their finalized design to VEX Robotics for mass production, with around 100,000 shields planned to be donated.
